Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) means “Universal Life Force Energy” in Japanese. It is abundant energy throughout the Universe. This energy is also known as God or Source energy, prana, chi, or simply energy.
Some consider Reiki a form of spiritual healing, even though it is not affiliated with any particular religion, creed, or doctrine.
When our health is optimized, we are vibrant with life force energy and have little difficulty recovering from minor imbalances and illnesses. However, prolonged stress, illness, and imbalances can deplete or obstruct the flow of this life force energy, thus making it more difficult to heal.
Reiki sessions can help restore and re-establish the optimal flow of this energy while balancing all levels of our being. While Reiki energy is intelligent and goes where needed most, it is also responsive to healing intentions established at the beginning of each session.
Recent studies support the use of Reiki as a complementary therapy for those undergoing cancer treatment, post-surgical healing, and more. Hospitals have added Reiki treatments for patients to promote healing.
Reiki treatments can be administered in person or via distance (Zoom).

Every Reiki session begins with a check-in to discuss client goals and ends with a debrief, during which Amy shares any insights received during the session, and the client can ask questions and share feedback.
Everyone experiences Reiki differently; an individual’s experience can also vary from session to session.
The most common experiences include deep relaxation, sleepiness, tingling sensation, or warmth. Some will remain awake and alert.
Many people report a more profound sense of calm, peace, and mental clarity that lasts days after a session.
OPTIONAL: Upgrade your session to include the healing support of crystals in a Crystology session.
Office Sessions:
Reiki office sessions are administered with the client fully clothed on a massage table unless the session is combined with massage.
A light touch is applied using a series of hand positions from the head to the feet. About midway through the session, the client is asked to turn over, and various hand positions are used, from the head down to the feet, to complete the session.
Distance Reiki Sessions via Zoom
Distance sessions can be administered in two ways, depending on the client’s preference.
Clients can receive the session quietly while Amy sends Reiki in real-time during a Zoom meeting. Afterward, there is a brief discussion of client feedback and Amy’s insights.
Alternatively, when meeting on Zoom, Amy will use verbal contact while actively sending Reiki to the client. This can be a more dynamic experience for the client, as Amy will share what is happening in real-time while receiving client feedback. When appropriate, breathwork and guided visualization enhance the client experience.
After a Session:
The benefits of a Reiki session continue long after the table work and may unfold quietly over time. It is essential to drink plenty of water, rest, and listen to your body after a session.
Many ask how often and when they should return for their next session. There are no strict guidelines, and each client is encouraged to consider the following factors for the best results:
If you seek Reiki treatments for general stress and relaxation, bi-weekly (every 2 weeks) treatments may be beneficial at first.
Once your ability to manage your stress has stabilized, monthly sessions are recommended to maintain balance.
For chronic conditions that involve pain, trauma recovery, cancer, etc., weekly sessions are recommended to support your body’s ability to heal.
I was first introduced to Reiki Universal Life Force Energy during my senior year in college. I knew in every fiber of my being that I wanted to learn it, even before experiencing it.
I began my Reiki certification journey in 2001 and completed my Reiki Master Teacher training by late 2002. Since then, I have offered private Reiki sessions and certification classes in Boulder County.
Since my Level 1 training, Reiki has been a constant in my life, and I’m so grateful to have access to this intelligent and loving energy to support me and my loved ones.
It has been one of my greatest joys to share this transformative healing art with clients in my practice.
